There once was a time that I was subscribed to multiple monthly beauty boxes, but most of the items I received never earned a place in my beauty cabinet. I’m working on upping my beauty game, but rather than scrolling the aisles of Target grabbing whatever looks fun, I’m slowing down to consciously mull over my beauty purchases.
I know for me, I’ve struggled with finding more natural beauty products that won’t irritate my skin and don’t cost a fortune. Probably like you, I value quality but don’t want to dish out the dolla bills for those top shelf items – let’s get real a higher price tag doesn’t necessarily equate to higher quality.
Every spring I like to clean out my beauty cabinet and refresh with a few new spring beauty finds. About a year ago I made the decision to start switching out my beauty products for more natural ones. I’ve tried and tested a few different creams, serums, oils, and sprays, and after falling in love with some and tossing others, I’ve narrowed down my skin care products to only my favorites. Now I’m slowly adding new products to freshen up my routine for spring.
Long story short, all of these spring beauty finds are affordable, include natural ingredients, and are tested by yours truly.
EYES // Bare Minerals Mineralixirs Eye Nourishing Oil Balm
I’ve always been wishy washy with eye creams due to the greasy residue that some leave behind, but when I saw this eye oil balm I figured I’d give it another try. It’s a rich, solid oil balm, that absorbs quickly. I sometimes dab a little on my under eyes mid-day to perk up my face. Formulated with oils and minerals, it’s packed with moisture to instantly refresh your eyes.
LIPS // Well People Nudist Colorbalm in #3
I discovered Well People while browsing Anthropologie and was so excited to see that Target now carries this nontoxic organic brand. I normally don’t wear lipsticks, but this lip balm is the exception. The berry color gives a nice flush of color on my lips, perfect for spring, while also being hydrating thanks to the omega oils and aloe. I like to apply it with my finger for a natural finish.
LIPS // Cocovit Orange + Basil Lip Balm
I’m a chapstick fanatic and never go anywhere without it. Seriously if I could only take one thing with me on a deserted island it would 100% be lip balm. Most days this is all I wear on my lips and its coconut oil base is deeply nourishing. The orange and basil scent (fragrance is natural from essential oils) makes this lip balm feel like a luxury find.
FACE // Savannah Bee Charcoal Cleanser
The changing of the season brings the changing of my skincare needs. It always tends to be oilier this time of year so when searching for a solution to keep oil at bay, I came across this charcoal and volcanic ash cleanser. I’ll be honest, I was a little weary of it because of the honey but after reading about the power of charcoal (it reduces excess oil) I decide to give it a shot. Oh and that honey I was afraid of, it nourishes your skin by giving your complexion a boost of hydration. Use this 2-3 times a week to gently exfoliate your face (thank the volcanic ash for this) and purify your pores.
FACE // Apoterra Simple Facial With Jojoba & Flowers
This has been my go-to moisturizer lately, don’t be intimidated by it being an oil, jojoba is fast absorbing and won’t leave your skin greasy. I apply a drop or two (you don’t need much) after washing and toning my face. It’s the perfect oil for everyday use and can be worn under makeup, let it absorb for a few minutes before applying. And not only is it nourishing for your skin, it’s so versatile – rub a drop or two on the ends of your hair, use as a makeup remover or body oil.
FACE // EcoTools Large Powder Brush & EcoTools Stippling Brush
Y’all these brushes are suuupppper soft! Use the large powder brush to apply a sheer layer of mattifying setting powder over your makeup and the stippling brush to dust bronzer on your forehead and cheek. They’re made with cruelty-free bristles, recycled aluminumn, and bamboo – a big plus in my book!
BODY // Shea Moisture Tahitian Noni & Monoi Dry Oil Mist
Typically I’m a no fragrance kind of gal due to smells triggering migraines, but this oil is so lightly scented it doesn’t bother me at all. The sweet almond oil is the perfect spring beauty find – it smells subtly sweet with floral undertones. It’s great on those mornings you have to rush out the door and don’t have time for perfume. Most body oils I’ve come across are twist off cap bottles and I almost always end up pouring too much out, so when I saw this dry oil was a spray a chorus of angels started singing. It’s jam packed with antioxidants and skin moisturizing oils to help maintain healthy skin.
HEAD TO TOE // Pearlessence Coconut Treatment Oil
A few months ago I picked up this oil at TJ Maxx and it can be used for everything. I apply it at night after a scrub or mask treatment to rejuvenate my skin. A drop or two is all you need when applying to your face & neck (a little goes a long way) and I don’t recommend wearing it during the day under makeup, it takes longer to absorb into your skin. It’s great at being used as a body oil, to soften cuticles, as an under-eye moisturizer, or on the ends of your hair. It has a light coconut scent that makes you feel like you’re on vacation.
