Friends, it’s been a long time since I’ve talked about all the random things that pop in to my brain. You know the odds and ends of life that you would typically chat about with your girl friends over a cup of coffee or during happy hour at your favorite local spot.
In case you’re having a momentary mind blank (don’t worry it happens to the best of us) or you’re new around here, every once in awhile I like to do a thing called IN THE MIX. It’s like we are meeting up in real life to catch up on the happenings of life and what we are excited about at the present moment. Sure they may not be deep and profound conversations, but shouldn’t we celebrate the small things in life too?
So today I’d like to do a little catching up with you, friend to friend. Sorry that the conversation is a little one-sided, but please join in by chatting in the comments.
Ok, we’re just going to start off a little spicy – have you tried Chobani’s sriracha mango yogurt?
Typically I buy the plain flavor and add berries, honey and the occasional granola. But when I saw this new flavor available, I had to try it – I’m a sucker for spicy. It’s sweet with a hint of spicy and the sesame sticks add a nice crunch. Try their chipotle pineapple flavor too, it reminds me of a spiced up pina colada (perfect for the warmer weather we;’re having).
I’ve been on a health conscious kick lately (ok some days more so than others), but making a conscious decision to eliminate certain chemicals and products from my daily life has taken high priority. Slowly I’m replacing household cleaners and beauty products with a more natural alternative. Switching to a healthier makeup has taken a back burner – make up can be so expensive and I hate to be wasteful, but I’ve come to realize that what I put on my body is just as important as what I put in it.
And in steps Honest Beauty Makeup – their line is made without: parabens, paraffins, silicones, sodium lauryl sulfates, petrolatum, mineral oil, talc, or synthetic fragrances. After watching Teri Miyahira’s youtube review (fair warning it’s long, but full of information) I knew I needed to try it out. You have the option to create a personalized bundle of 3 products all for $50. I’m eying the brown sable eye shadow palette, cream blush, and the lip gloss in creative kiss.

Ebates – have you heard of it? Well if you’re an online shopper it’s a must, you get cash back (for free!) just for buying the items you normally would. It doesn’t cost a dime to sign up for an account and all you have to do is install a cash back button (similar to the Pinit button for Pinterest) and activate it when shopping at participating online retailers. Depending on where you shop you’ll receive a percentage back in to your Ebates account, they then send you a check and cha-ching! Free money!
You’ll earn 2% back from Target, 3% from JCrew, 4% from Sephora, Up to 7% from Amazon – seriously there are hundreds of stores that you probably are already shopping at and can earn cash back from. Click on the button below to learn more!
This past month we’ve been traveling up to St. Augustine quite a bit for celebrations of all kinds. We celebrated my sweet Mum’s birthday with an afternoon at the fair and a home cooked meal at G-mas. My nieces walked in their first fashion show modeling for Banana Bread Baby and we celebrated love at our friend’s engagement party.
On one of our last trips up we stopped in to try The Blue Hen Cafe and it definitely lived up to its hype. It’s a charming cafe in the downtown area decorated with, you guessed it – hens. If you’re ever in the area try the jerk chicken cobb salad.
Hmmm anything else?
Oh yes! I have a few more recommendations for you:
Listen to –> this new album.
Read –> this book for a twist on a classic.
Watch –> this quirky film, but have a tissue on hand.
Make –> this unique paper wall art.
Drink –> one of these yummy wine cocktails.
Download –> this freebie for a fresh spring work space.
Alright my friends, thanks for letting me chat your ear off!
Is there anything you’d like to chat about? What have you been up to lately?
