A few weeks after my miscarriage I decided that while I had no control in stopping a miscarriage I do have control over keeping myself healthy and create the healthiest environment for a potential baby. I started throwing out products (makeup and body) with questionable ingredients and replacing them with one’s that have more natural ingredients. This is just one part (and the easiest) of a lifestyle overhaul, now I am looking to: reduce stress, regulate menstruation, and encourage fertilization – which is where essential oils come in to play.
There are only a few essential oils I feel comfortable using while trying to conceive, researching the effects of each oil is important. Using a natural approach to boost fertility, like essential oils, can help regulate your body’s natural rhythm and decrease stress. Depression and stress can cause a hormonal imbalance which can hurt your chances of conceiving.
So along with a healthy diet and exercise, I’m starting to incorporate certain essential oils to boost fertility. Some can be diffused, I keep a diffuser on my night stand, taken in a capsule, added to a bath, or applied directly with fractionated coconut oil.
Here are some of the one’s I have found to boost fertility:
- Balances hormones and aids in regulating your cycle
- Has a calming effect on stress levels
- Potentially helpful with endometriosis
- Decreases stress and anxiety
- Can be used topically on your abdomen
- Add a few drops to a difuser, to a warm bath, or massage oil
- Regulates menstrual cycle
- Improves hormonal imbalances by having an anti-depressant effect
- Use only during the first part of your cycle, may be unsafe to use during pregnancy
- Natural medicine to aid ovulation
- Strengthens the uterus
- Regulates menstrual cycle
- Anti-inflammatory
- Soothes emotions such as anger, anxiety, depression, and irritability
- Mix with peppermint and lavender to boost immune system
To be clear I am not a professional doctor, these are just a few essential oils I have come across when researching fertility boosting oils. Trying to conceive can be stressful, and I am trying my best to find natural approaches to increase my chances of pregnancy. Pinterest and Instagram has been a great resource when looking for essential oil information, I came across this fertility support blend from @oilpoweredmom:
FERTILITY SUPPORT BLEND
12 drops Clary Sage
10 drops Fennel
7 drops Geranium
8 drops Lavender
8 drops Bergamot
Combine all oils in a 10ml roller ball and top off with fractionated coconut oil.
Apply to lower abdomen twice daily targeting ovary and uterus areas.
Ultimately, a combination of diet, health, and exercise are all important aspects of boosting fertility. When it comes to using oils I do so with an open mind and the realization that they are not miracle works. It’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and make choices that will benefit not just my health overall, but the health of a potential pregnancy.
Perhaps you’ve been down this road, maybe you are right there alongside me trying to conceive – are there any natural approaches you are trying or have tried to boost fertility? I’d love if you shared with me your thoughts and experiences in the comments below.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. That’s always so disheartening. But I also want to say that your blog is lovely. Hope you have success next time.
Thank you so much, your kind words are very much appreciated. Have a beautiful day! xo, kaitlin
I am right where you were. I have lost 2 now and found that getting Acupuncture for fertility helped with the getting pregnant part. It was the staying pregnant that I’m struggling with. I do love oils though and I will try anything that may help getting pregnant again. Thanks for the post!
Thinking of you Jennifer! Thank you for sharing your story. xo
