I recently went on a bachelorette cruise over Cinco de Mayo weekend and the theme was, you guessed it…fiesta! Originally I wanted to make the bride to be a real flower crown, but I knew it wouldn’t hold up for the entire weekend. Thank goodness for craft stores with pretty faux flowers. With a few materials, I was able to create a faux flower crown in no time. Spring is in full swing and soon enough the dog days of Summer will be here which is the perfect time for flowy boho dresses and a colorful flower crown.

The dollar store has a great assortment of faux flowers to choose from. For this faux flower crown, I opted for peonies, asters, ranunculus, and hydrangeas. I tried to stay within a color scheme of pinks and peaches, but you can make it as colorful or monochromatic as you want.
HOW TO MAKE A FAUX FLOWER CROWN
Pull each flower off the stem, it will slide off easily.
Trim the extra piece of stem to make the flower as flat as possible. The only exception are the hydrangeas, leave the stems on.
Lay your main flowers in a pattern around the outside of the headband. Start with the larger flowers in the middle and work your way out with the smaller flowers at the ends. I started with the big pink flowers in the center and mirrored each side to match with peach, light pink, and purple flowers.
Glue your flowers to the headband starting in the middle. The glue dries fast, but you can peel it off and reglue it if you mess up.
Fill in the gaps along the top with leaves, hydrangeas, and smaller flowers.
To give the front flowers of the faux flower crown more oomph, pull out the middles of extra flowers and glue to the inside of the already glued flowers. This adds volume/depth to the flower; you can even switch up the colors to add some extra detail.
Leave 1 to 2 inches of the headband empty on each end to easily slip on and wear as a crown.
Wear and have fun!
A faux flower crown is great for bridal showers, birthday parties, bachelorettes, and baby showers. You can even pair it with a long flowy dress for a boho vibe.
